Slot Machine Spins and Betting

Playing slot machines is really a case of man versus machine (unless the machine was rigged by another person). Slots players try to predict something completely random based on hunch. Now does hunch really work? We say, sometimes it does. And for the purposes of playing slots for consistent wins and smaller losses, it does quite well. This article looks at a conservative betting system that can help you survive the slots.

Slot machine debunkers like to tell you that slot machine spins are unpredictable. They tell you that the outcome of previous spins have no bearing on the present and future ones. Actually this is true. No one really knows when the jackpot will hit and no one knows how long a cold machine will stay that way. But as all real slot machine players know, the spins are not TOTALLY immune to prediction. Here are some tells and tips that can help you partially guess the next spin.

- When the slot machine pays big on a spin, it is almost certain it will not pay big again (if at all) in the next spin.

- When the symbols have been "off" the payline - that is, inexact in position - for a couple of spins, the next one may be exact.

- If the symbols weren't off the payline - that is, exact in position whether or not they paid - then the next spin may be off.

- If a 3-symbol match up ALMOST happened in a spin, it is almost certain it will not happen at all in the next spin.

- If the rare, highest paying symbol appears in one spin, it is almost certain it will not appear in the next.

- If you have been playing a slot machine for a while, you can predict when the bigger mid-range spins will appear. If you have the coins to last the wait, bet max when you feel it is coming.

- Do not max bet on a cold slot machine. Try to bet minimum. A machine is cold when it doesn't pay after about 7 spins, and very cold if it does not pay after 12.

- If you hit a big prize on a minimum bet, do not try to make up for it by max betting on the next spin. It is almost certain there won't be another big pay out to come in a while. Bet minimum for at least one or two spins.

- If the slot machine has not been paying out, and medium-paying symbols have appeared whether exact or inexact in position, you may guess a good pay out is coming. The higher paying symbol(s) may be coming next or at least a 3-symbol match up.

- If the reels are all lined up symmetrically but are off the payline - and thus no pay, it is almost certain there won't be any match up in the next spin.

- If the slot machine makes a low pay out, the next spin may or may not pay. Sometimes it will. Usually if the machine is pretty lose, it will pay after a few more spins.

- Occasionally, a slot machine will pay out well back to back. You can't predict when this will happen unless your hunch is exceptionally good.

- After a rare and big win, it is better to cash out.

Note that these are NOT 100% accurate. No guesses or hunches are. But you will find they work often enough to protect your bankroll and give you consistent, though smaller, wins.
